Here you can enjoy her latest art collection and learn about traditional Japanese art.
For guests from abroad, there is also a special course on how to make a traditional Japanese fan from start to finish.
The Japanese fan, or sensu, has a long history going back to the 8th century, and the design and artwork has been
greatly appreciated by people from all over the world. We’ve even begun to notice many fans at the Wimbledon tennis
tournament using sensu to stay cool under the summer sun.
In this class, students will have an opportunity to learn how make an original fan. The process begins with drawing
the picture on Japanese washi paper and finishes with the construction of the bamboo frame.
No preparation is necessary. Visitors should just make a reservation and drop by our class, for an exciting change to
experience Japanese culture. |
